We went for lunch and they had set menus including Catalan bread, a drink, starter, main, dessert for only 15.50 euro each. It seems to be a family run business with their teen daughter helping as a waitress. When we first arrived at 1.30pm it was fairly quiet but by the time our entrees arrived at 2pm, the place was packed! The menu is in Spanish so we used google translate and it’s the most value meal we’ve had in Europe. Service was efficient. For starters, we got the avocado with stuffed shrimp and cold tomato soup (like Gazpacho, but creamier). I wanted to try the soup which was a good flavour but I’m not the biggest fan of a cold soup. For mains, we got the skirt steak and the meatballs. The meatballs were the favourite. Dessert, we got the mango yoghurt cake and the tarta Santiago. I paired dessert with a cortado. Excellent food, rustic vibes, would definitely recommend for a comforting, value, home-cooked style meal!

Authentic Catalan restaurant frequented by elderly locals. They offer a special calçot menu with choice of meat or cod - I chose cod. The calçots and sauce were good, with portions large enough to share (€16 separately). However, the cod was disappointing - clearly reheated, dry outside yet cold inside, served with a pitiful handful of salad. The tomato bread was bland, with flavorless tomatoes. Recommendation: order just the calçots and something else from the regular menu.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

I love traditions. I love eating the typical food of a holiday or a season when it's the time. I believe that it's important to remember what made our culture and I'm convinced seasonal meals are eaten at a certain time for a reason. So for Easter Sunday, we were coming back from a trip and we wanted to have lunch with my father in law but he was offering to buy a 🐔... No way! I wanted 🐑! So we started to look for a place that served 🐑 and wasn't already full (cause it was kind of last minute). We found Braseria Piras. They told us they would save some 🐑 for us. Great! 🤩 Well, almost, cause what's typical is the leg or, at least, the shoulder, and what they had that day were 🐑 chops... 🤷‍♂️ But 🐑 it was 👍 As a starter, I ordered a typical Catalan dish called "Esqueixada" which is a raw cod salad. In that dish, it's very important that the cod is tender and, for that purpose, it usually is cut in very small pieces (preferently using fingers not a knife). In that case, the chunks were quite big so I had to cut them myself, which kind of spoils the experience. Plus the dressing was somewhat poor. In general, it was just ok. Then came the 🐑 chops. And I must say that, at the end, I don't regret they gave us chops cause they were sooo good! Well cooked, tender... and the portions were huge! Usually, when you order 🐑 chops at a restaurant, they give you 2 or 3 chops. No that time! I was thrilled, really. Plus there were a couple of calçots (you know, the onion?) on the side... Yummy! We didn't have desserts, nor did we have wine and we paid about €30 each, which is kind of pricey, but, considering the quality (of the 🐑 chops, especially) and the quantities, I cannot really complain. The service was cordial, neither more nor less. Great restaurant to avoid the busy and overpriced tourist spots. They serve amazing Spanish food. The lunch menu (menu del dia) costs only €15. I took the Asturian beans and the meatballs and both were excellent.

If you are looking for excellent tradition Catalan cuisine- this is the spot. Cozy, comfortable, excellent quality and value. Highly recommended
